How to Pick Up Food
- Reach out to Mrs. Cazares at (408) 223-3751 or vcazares@mpesd.org.
- Be ready with some dates and times in mind to make scheduling quicker. The front office is open from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM. This excludes the summer.
- Stop by at the agreed-upon time!
How to Donate
The same steps for picking up food apply, except you're dropping off food instead. Before you schedule an appointment, be sure to double-check that:
- Any food donations are shelf-stable and unexpired. This means that they are not past a "sell-by" or "use-by" date. They should not be considered expired.
- No refrigeration or freezing should be required for the item to not spoil. Not everybody has the same access to appliances.
- No leftovers or items with packaging concerns.
- Nothing should have been made in a personal kitchen. That is because the ingredients must be verifiable, and the food has to be properly sealed.
- Cans should not be dented or bloated.
- Packaging should not already be open.
Not sure of what exactly could be donated? Here is a list of ideas:
- Nut butters (ex. peanut butter, almond butter)
- Canned soups
- Seasoning packets
- Canned meats (tuna, chicken, etc.)
- Rice
- Pasta
- Rolled oats or instant oatmeal
If you're purchasing items to donate, keep an eye out for lids that don't require a can opener!
