Mrs. Gilman-Cama

7th grade English Language Arts/Social Science/English Language Development

Bula! Hola! Hello!

My name is Mrs. Gilman-Cama. This is my sixth year teaching 7th Grade Language Arts and History. This is my third year teaching 7th/8th English Language Development (ELD).

I like to get to know my students right away by sharing my life with them as soon as we meet (I use a Gilman-Cama PowerPoint). This really helps the bonding process and great classroom management. I enjoy music, camping, reading my kindle, traveling, zip lining, snorkeling, online shopping, chocolate, and spending time with family and friends. I was born in Mexico City and adopted at one week old. My brother was adopted from Seoul, Korea. He lives in Tacoma, WA with his family. My dad was born and raised on the East Coast and is now living there. My mother was also born and raised on the East Coast but lives here in San Jose. My husband was born and raised in Fiji (check out my Photo Gallery). I'm loving married life (almost 2 years now)!

I am also a huge fan of reggae music and music festivals. I believe that "music saves lives" and is extremely important when learning. As my students walk into class, I greet them with a heartfelt high-five and the song of the day! I strive to create a safe and engaging classroom environment that promotes academic standards and discussion. My students understand that making mistakes in the classroom (and in life) is part of the learning process, as long as we learn from our mistakes.

I love using the educational website, Flocabulary, so please check out the Resources Page and visit their website. Please also visit the PowerSchool to check all grades and assignments!

Thank you so much for visiting my page and the Boeger Staff pages. We appreciate it!
